Flexiety Software, which offers paid support plans for the open-source OpenOffice.org productivity software, announced on Thursday a new free download and support service. Those who sign up at the company's new DownloadOpenOffice.org site can download the software for free and receive 30 days of free support services.
OpenOffice.org is the open-source sibling of Sun Microsystems' StarOffice productivity package, which includes common office tools such as word processing and spreadsheet programs. Both packages compete with Microsoft's dominant Office products.
