DEMO 96: Novell opens GroupWise to Web

In a bow to the ubiquity of the Web, Novell showed off its GroupWise WebAccess software at Demo 96 here today. The package works with Novell's groupware product to provide Web access.

INDIAN WELLS, California--In a bid to break down the walls between its own GroupWise groupware product and the World Wide Web, Novell today showed off GroupWise WebAccess here at Demo 96.

Slated for delivery during the second quarter, the software is aimed at giving GroupWise users access to their groupware functions via the Internet. Priced from $249, GroupWise WebAccess will enable users to access the universal in-box feature of GroupWise from any PC or workstation with a Net link and an HTML-compatible browser.

The client/server package will run on Unix, Windows NT, or OS/2 Web servers. Novell's GroupWise package, which competes with IBM's Lotus Notes product, includes email, group scheduling, and fax capabilities.
