Connectix software on multiple Windows

Connectix, a company that got its start selling software that lets PCs run video games written for gaming consoles, has expanded into a new market. On Monday, the San Mateo, Calif., company released $199 software that lets PCs run multiple versions of Windows on the same computer at the same time. The software is useful for companies whose technical support personnel have to handle customers with numerous different versions of Windows, the company said. In addition, the software lets computers with newer versions of Windows run software designed for older versions. The product bears some similarity to those from VMware, whose software works on Windows or Linux computers. Connectix also sells software that lets Macintosh owners run Windows programs.
