Autodesk (ADSK) has picked up a Silicon Graphics (SGI) VP to round out its executive staff.

The maker of design software and multimedia tools has named Steve Cakebread as vice president and chief financial officer. He will oversee the departments of treasury, finance, and information systems.

Previously Cakebread was vice president of finance for SGI where he managed a variety of international divisions including accounting and finance, information systems, and sales and service administration since 1993.

The position of CFO has been vacant since last September when Eric Herr was promoted to president.

This is the second executive placement since the end of January when the company named Carl Bass to fill its then newly created position of vice president and chief technical officer.

Company spokeswoman Kathy Tom Engle said "Everything is in place," and there should not be any other hiring to fill new positions, at least not at the executive level.

Cakebread started at Autodesk in his official capacity last week.
