Advanced Micro Devices has started to ship the Sempron 3000+ chip for budget notebooks. The chip, which costs $134 in quantities of 1,000, will be included in notebooks from Packard Bell and Gericom for the European market this holiday season. Although Sunnyvale, Calif.-based AMD has made strides against Intel in servers and consumer desktops, the company has not seen the same sort of growth in the past year in notebooks.
