Google Glass is up for sale, again
The shopping page for Google Glass has gone live once again, so head over if you want to purchase the $1,500 wearable and net a free pair of frames.
Just one week after its one-day Glass sale, Google has opened up the shopping page for its head-worn wearable once more, it seems.
No announcement accompanied this second offering, and it is unclear whether or not it will last only 24 hours like the sale that occurred last week on April 15. Either way, head over if you want to net yourself one of the $1,500 headsets.
All five Glass colors are available once more, including "Cotton," the white version that sold out first last time around. By Wednesday, April 16, all other variations had also sold out, so demand would appear to be high, despite steady polarization among consumers who have yet to feel totally comfortable with face computers and discrete recording capabilities.
The promotion package that nets you one free pair of frames appears to have remained intact. Google offers four eyeglasses frame choices for $225 and three sunglasses frame choices for $150, but you get one of those seen frames free with a Glass purchase.
Google may have opened up sales again due to having more inventory than it let on last week. Or this could be because the flood of demand for Glass during the one-day sale prompted another go around in an attempt to get more units out in the wild.
CNET has reached out to Google for comment and will update this story when we hear back.
Update at 11:13 a.m. PT: It appears as if Google has switched every Glass unit back to "out of stock." No longer can you add Glass to your shopping cart, as CNET was previously able to do just 30 minutes ago. We are awaiting comment from Google on whether or not this was a mistake.
Update at 11:36 a.m. PT: Google has confirmed that the sale was not reinstated, nor was the page put live again as a mistake. "This link was created to accommodate potential Explorers who were still in the pipeline from last week's sale. We're shutting it down shortly. As always, we will continue to experiment with ways to expand the Explorer program in the weeks and months ahead," a Google spokesperson said.
