Microsoft announces minor updates to Windows Phone 8
The rollout includes some enhancements to Xbox Music, FM radio integration, and a way to monitor data usage.
Windows Phone 8 users will soon see a slight update offered for their operating system.
Microsoft on Thursday announced update 8.0.10327.77, which includes several minor fixes and updates. Among the updates is the ability to more easily select and download music from Xbox Music, as well as listen to FM radio from the Music+Videos hub. A new Data Sense feature will be bundled with the update, allowing users to see how much data they've used.
Other than that, there isn't much to write home about -- the remaining enhancements are just fixes for Skype, Internet Explorer, and Camera.
That said, Microsoft might have something major in the works. The software giant is looking to launch its Windows Phone "Blue" update in early 2014, The Verge reported on Friday, citing people familiar with Microsoft's plans. When that update launches, users will find enhancements to built-in applications, a new notification center feature, and improvements to the operating system's multitasking.
The Blue update is not to be confused with Windows 8.1, which should be made available next month.
Until then, Windows Phone 8 users should be getting their hands on the latest update soon. Microsoft has said that it's currently rolling out to supported devices.
