iPad, meet Apple Store app, finally
The tablet version of the shopping app, long a presence on the iPhone, brings a full-display experience to the iPad's larger screens.
The Apple Store app is open for business on iPads.
Released on Wednesday, Apple Store for iPad delivers a full-screen experience for people who want to go Apple picking via their tablets. The app delivers high-resolution images of iPhones, iPads, Macs, and other Apple products, and lets you tap, swipe, and pinch to browse and buy Apple products.
A menu at the top displays the product categories. It quickly disappears as you shop the virtual aisles, but you can retrieve the menu easily by swiping down from the top. As with the iPhone app, you can search for specific items, add products to your shopping cart, and pay for them at checkout. You then can arrange for home delivery or store pickup.
The app also allows you to track down the nearest Apple Store for workshops and events or to make an appointment with the Genius Bar.
