Samsung UN60F7500 does smart dimming
Samsung's UN60F7500 is a smart LED TV with Precision Black dimming, natural language interaction, and brighter 3D.
LAS VEGAS--Following on from the flagship 8000 series, the step-down Samsung F7500 series is offered in three sizes this year -- 46, 55, and 60 inches -- and it boasts many of the same features. The UN60F7500 is a smart TV with the same Precision Black dimming, but it does lack the thousands of zones offered by the top model.
One of the focuses of the TV is its beefed-up smarts with improved voice interaction and a quad-core processor to speed things up. The Smart Hub application has been enhanced with more content -- movies, videos, and music -- and a new TV program guide. This augments Samsung's new S-Recommendation engine, which lists suggested content in thumbnails at the bottom of the screen.
Dim images can be an issue with active 3D televisions, so the TV incorporates Local CTR (crosstalk reduction) that Samsung says increases 3D brightness by 30 percent.
The 7500 offers a number of connectivity options including Samsung Smart View, which streams content between the TV and a Samsung mobile device, and AllShare has now been extended to incorporate Samsung's "smart" appliances, enabling monitoring of air conditioners and washing machines from the TV screen.
Picture quality improvements include Motion Judder Cancellation Pro for smoother pictures, De-Jagging Pro for better scaling of low-quality sources, and Precision Black for better black levels through LED backlight control.
The UN60F7500 will be available in the first half of 2013 with pricing to be announced.
