Zenith offers Pentium Pro servers

Zenith Data Systems offers new Pentium Pro-based servers redesigned for easier expansion and maintainence.

Zenith Data Systems, a division of Packard Bell NEC, introduced new Pentium Pro-based servers redesigned for easier expansion and maintainence.

Zenith says the new Z-Server LE2000 and MT-2000 are the company's first products to use a modular architecture, which eases the addition and repair of drives, power supplies, and other devices. The company is also bundling its server management software suite for monitoring system performance.

The LE2000 is intended for use in applications such as Internet-intranet and groupware programs. The server, which comes with a 200-MHz Pentium Pro processor and 32MB of high-quality ECC memory, can be upgraded to a dual-processor system.

The MT2000 is designed for higher-traffic users, such as companies using databases. It also offers a 200-MHz Pentium Pro and can be upgraded to a dual-processor system but offers more expansion slots and drive bays. The drive bays in the MT2000 are also hot-swappable, meaning that they can be replaced without restarting the server.

Prices will start at $3,900 for the LE2000, while the MT2000 will begin at $6,353. Both are available now.
