Yahoo rebooks Sabre for Web travel
The Web portal extends a deal to use Sabre's subsidiary Travelocity.com as the provider of air, car and hotel-booking information for its Web site.
Financial terms of the deal and its exact length were not released. Yahoo and Travelocity will share transaction revenue for sales generated through Travelocity's air, car and hotel-booking service on the Yahoo Travel site.
Sabre provides technology, distribution and marketing services to the travel industry. Yahoo will integrate Sabre's technology and content into its travel section and has already prepared a redesigned front page for the section, including a new user interface and navigation.
Sabre will also work with Yahoo to develop broadcast and business communications offerings for its employees and network of 250,000 travel agents. In addition, Travelocity will be touted throughout Yahoo's site, and Yahoo will develop a marketing program for Travelocity featuring, among other things, advertising, keyword search and direct marketing programs.
The companies said they plan to jointly develop additional travel services to be announced at a later date.
