A Tuesday tweet from Tesla Motors head Elon Musk has Nikola Tesla fans all fired up about the possibility that a "Goddamn Tesla Museum" might actually happen in the not-too-distant future.

In a tweeted response to comic genius Matthew Inman of The Oatmeal, Musk promised to help Inman realize Inman's dream of creating a fully functional Nikola Tesla museum. In 2012, Inman launched a successful crowdfunding campaign to buy the East Shoreham, N.Y., Wardenclyffe Tower that served as Tesla's lab, but stopped short of raising the money needed to remodel, rebuild, and staff a successful museum operation.

In part two of Inman's review of the Tesla Model S, the comic appealed to Musk's vast pocketbook to provide the $8 million in funding he'd need to make this dream a reality. Surely a man who can throw millions of dollars at things like a Lotus Esprit from the Bond flick "The Spy Who Loved Me" could afford a donation for something as worthwhile as a Tesla Museum, Inman reasoned.

What Musk's help will amount to isn't yet clear, and in a statement to Re/Code confirming the donation, Tesla did not disclose the amount of the gift. Hopefully Musk and Tesla, which owes its very namesake to the man who invented to AC induction motor powering the company's vehicles, will pony up the dough so we can see the Goddamn Tesla Museum become reality.
