Following are some of the notable tech-related events scheduled for the week of March 2.

Beam me up, Scotty. EchoStar Communications, owner of Dish Network satellite TV services, will be among the few tech notables this week announcing quarterly earnings.

Joining EchoStar on the earnings lineup will be chipmaker National Semiconductor--which, like EchoStar, expects to post a loss for the three-month period.

    • Auto and Truck Sales is the total of domestically produced vehicles sold. February auto sales are expected to decline to 5.8 million, from 5.9 million the previous month. Truck sales are expected to rise to 7 million, from 6.9 million the previous month.

  • Personal Income measures income from all sources. January growth is expected to remain unchanged at 0.4 percent from the previous month.
  • Thursday, March 6

    • Initial Claims is the weekly total of new claims filed for unemployment compensation. The total is expected to fall to 400,000 for the week ended March 1, from 417,000 the previous week.
    • Factory Orders is the total of durable and nondurable goods orders. The August total is expected to increase slightly to 0.5 percent, compared with 0.4 percent the previous month.
    Friday, March 7
    • The Unemployment Rate is the percentage of American workers looking for jobs. The February rate is expected to grow to 5.8 percent, from 5.7 percent the previous month.
