Following are some of the notable tech-related events scheduled for the week of March 23.

A smattering of earnings reports in the coming week from Red Hat and a few other information technology companies will serve as the calm before the storm, as investors prepare for an onslaught of financial results that will come in the following weeks with the close of the March quarter.

Also on the lineup for next week are industry trade shows such as the Gartner Symposium IT Expo and Jupiter Online Media Conference & Expo.

    • Red Hat develops Linux operating system software. The company is expected to report a fourth-quarter profit of 1 cent a share.

    Wednesday, March 26

    • Interland provides Web hosting to small- and medium-size businesses. The company is expected to report a second-quarter loss of 11 cents a share.

    Thursday, March 27

    • Riverstone Networks is a networking equipment provider. The company is expected to report a fourth-quarter loss of 14 cents a share.

  • XM Satellite Radio operates a national satellite radio service. The company is expected to report a fourth-quarter loss of $1.38 a share.

    Tuesday, March 25
    • Consumer confidence tracks the results of a broad survey on consumer spending expectations. The March index is expected to dip to 63 from 64 the previous month.

  • Home sales tracks housing activity. February sales of existing homes are expected to fall to 5.85 million from 6.09 million the previous month. New home sales, however, are expected to rise to 928,000 from 914,000 the previous month.
  • Wednesday, March 26

    • Durable goods measures the value of all goods shipped or ordered with an intended lifespan of three years or more. The total is expected to decline 1 percent for February, after a 2.9 percent increase the previous month.

    Thursday, March 27

    • Gross domestic product is the broadest measure of overall U.S. economic activity. Fourth-quarter growth is expected to be flat at 1.4 percent.

    Friday, March 28

    • Personal income measures income from all sources. February growth is expected to dip to 0.2 percent from 0.3 percent the previous month.
