Unisys finalizes its seven-year government outsourcing deal worth $500 million with the state of Pennsylvania.

Unisys today said it finalized its seven-year government outsourcing deal worth $500 million with the state of Pennsylvania.

Under the deal, IT services firm Unisys said it will consolidate up to 20 state agencies' data centers, which houses all the agencies' information, computers, and computer network, into one, central data center. The company said it will also provide all the management and support of the center.

The transition from each individual agency running its own data center to the single Unisys data center will begin immediately with completion expected to take one year, the company said. In addition, Unisys will provide the state of Pennsylvania with computer hardware, computer software, and disaster recovery capabilities.

The Blue Bell, Pennsylvania-based company said it is working with IBM, Bell Atlantic Network Integrators, and SunGuard as primary subcontractors for the project.
