Tweets suggest new iPhone commercial coming
The device's videoconferencing feature will be highlighted in new ad spot, according to reports citing Twitter posts from actors vying for roles.
Actors vying for roles in Apple's latest commercial apparently didn't get the memo about the company's obsession with secrecy.
Two different actors posted their plans to audition for a new Apple commercial on Twitter, according to Engadget. But it's not just some run-of-the-mill TV ad: one of the actors said the commercial was being directed by Sam Mendes, probably best known for "American Beauty."
Engadget also noted that, according to its sources, Mendes is shooting a series of commercials for Apple. One of the ads is said to show a mom and daughter using the video chat feature of the device. The pictures of the lost iPhone 4G purchased by Gizmodo last month did show a front-facing camera, which is necessary for two-way videoconferencing.
That a new commercial is being readied isn't that surprising. Apple's Worldwide Developers Conference in San Francisco is just around the corner where the company is expected to announced the latest version of the iPhone. CEO Steve Jobs is scheduled to give one of his signature keynote speeches at 10 a.m. PDT on June 7.
