TechRepublic's created a list of words every science-fiction lover should know.
Jay Garmon at CNET sister site TechRepublic has proposed a list of the essential words that every sci-fi aficionado should know by heart. It covers imaginary technology, time travel, and apocalyptic scenarios. It's pretty titillating--if you're into that. The words are hand-selected from an authority on the contemporary English language, Brave New Words: The Oxford Dictionary of Science Fiction, and his own extensive reading.
Some scholar, somewhere, will most likely do a little essay on each item, its literary provenance, and potential for really happening.
