This incredible 'Simpsons' tribute is all about the pixels
Animators Paul Robertson and Ivan Dixon have given the entire intro theme to the long-running animated comedy "The Simpsons" the retro-gaming treatment.
Paul Robertson and Ivan Dixon, animators and superfans of "The Simpsons," teamed up to create a pixelated version of the iconic opener for the long-running animated comedy series, and dare I say it might just be my favorite Simpsons opener yet.
Robertson and Dixon built the entire intro in pixelated style, from Bart Simpson writing the words "Pixel art is not real art" on a school chalkboard to Maggie Simpson being scanned by the Kwik-E-Mart cashier. The pair even partnered with musician Jeremy Dower to make a pixelated soundtrack to complete the retro gaming feel.
By far the best part, though, is the couch gag. The team had the Simpson family transform into multiple variations, culminating in a weird, trippy final scene with rotating Homer heads and a crazy evil Krusty the Clown.
