The original iPad Mini has been given a space gray paint job to match the new Retina Mini, and now that repainted model seems to be hitting Apple Stores.

Some larger Apple Stores apparently had the space gray version of last year's model in stock early Thursday, according to AppleInsider. But those initial supplies quickly sold out. Sources told 9to5Mac that the tablet popped up at several Apple stores, though not all of them, and advised interested customers to call their local store to check on availability.

Apple's online store shows a shipping time of 24 hours or less for both the space gray and silver flavors of the non-Retina Mini. The original 16GB iPad Mini sells at $299 for the Wi-Fi-only version and $429 for the Wi-Fi + Cellular edition. Slated to reach consumers later in November, the new Retina Display Mini will start at $399 for the Wi-Fi-only variation and $529 for the Wi-Fi + Cellular model.
