Start-up Sonos has started shipping its $1,199 Digital Music System, the company said Thursday. The product streams music throughout the home using a series of remotely controlled wireless amplifiers to play music stored on a home PC.
The Digital Music System, originally slated to ship last fall, was delayed until this month because of "some fine-tuning the company needs to make in regards to system performance." Additional amplifiers, or ZonePlayers, sell for $499 while additional controllers sell for $399, Sonos said.
