On Monday, the rapper, whose association with marijuana is akin to that of Mark Zuckerberg with dull gray T-shirts, raised the white smoke on his new project: a marijuana lifestyle site.
Speaking at TechCrunch Disrupt, he announced that the site is called Merry Jane. Should you be unfamiliar of the allusion in this name, please listen to some Rick James, or merely ask anyone who works in your IT department.
Snoop explained that Merry Jane will be the center of all things pot. It will be full of information about marijuana, including the business side.
There will be a cooking show and a show called "Deflowered" that will feature people doing things for the first time (smoking pot, one imagines) and celebrity interviews.
Merry Jane will purportedly also allow you to identify the most convenient place to buy the particular strain that most eases your strain.
The site's co-founder, Ted Chung, told the audience that some of the revenue plan involves advertising. It will be interesting, therefore, which brands might jump into the pot first.
Currently, the site is asking for beta-testers, but it should open to the general potulace soon.
Merry Jane isn't exactly a new idea. There are quite a few marijuana lifestyle sites, such as Culture.
Clearly, Snoop Dogg is hoping that his celebrity will hold sway in these particular cultural wars.
