Short Take: Sun, IBM plan multimedia API

Sun Microsystems and IBM will ship a new application program interface for audio and video this fall. The Java Media Framework 2.0 supports MP3 music files and IBM's HotMedia toolkit for creating animation and audio. The companies will make a beta version available next week. The final version will be completed this fall.
