Short Take: SCO updates base code of OS

Unix network operating system player the Santa Cruz Operation has updated the base kernel to its software, the first such update since the company purchased the UnixWare product from Novell more than two years ago. The new SVR5 code base will be the platform for new products for the company by the end of this year. SCO also announced beta availability of the next version of UnixWare, previously code-named Gemini, as part of its road map to take users to a 64-bit implementation.
