Panasonic introduced two "ruggedized" notebooks with Pentium MMX chips, including one model for less than $2,000. One of the portables comes with a 200-MHz chip and a 2.1GB hard drive, while the other features a 233-MHz chip and a 4.0GB hard drive. Both incorporate 32MB of memory, a 12.1-inch active-matrix screen, and a CD-ROM drive. The 200-MHz version goes for $1,999, while the faster model costs $2,249.
