Microsoft said that a "broad investigation" of New York and New Jersey computer swap meetings has led to the identification of 12 vendors allegedly involved in the illegal distribution of Microsoft software, according to a Reuters report. Microsoft said it filed lawsuits in U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of New York against five companies and reached settlements with seven others.
