Short Take: Macromedia reports earnings

Macromedia posted better-than-expected third-quarter results. Revenues, however, fell to $26.6 million, down from $28.1 million a year ago. The company posted a loss of $7.25 million, or 19 cents a share, for the quarter ending December 31, 1997, compared with a loss of $2.4 million, or 6 cents a share, a year ago. Excluding an acquisition charge, Macromedia would have posted a profit of $407,000, or 1 cent a share.
