Short Take: Lotus announces layoffs

Lotus has announced plans to lay off 45 employees as part of a cost-cutting and resource-restructuring initiative, said Paul LaBelle, a company spokesman. The layoffs--along with the 170 positions Lotus has cut already this year--represent only a small portion of the company's global workforce of 8,500. LaBelle declined to outline which departments and regions would be affected by the layoffs.
