Short Take: GeoCities collects $9 million in financing

Online "community builder" GeoCities has received $9 million in financing from Softbank Holdings, Chase Capital Partners, InnoCal, CMG@Ventures, and Flatiron Partners. The proceeds will support GeoCities' online community business, which offers free personal home pages and Web tools to users in hopes of creating advertising-supported communities. GeoCities said it has an estimated 300,000 "homesteaders" setting up pages.
