Short Take: Fore acquires Scalable Networks

Asynchronous transfer mode (ATM) stalwart Fore Systems announced the acquisition of Scalable Networks, a Fast Ethernet and Gigabit Ethernet desktop and server software maker, for approximately $35 million in stock. Scalable's distributed switching software architecture will be integrated into Fore's PowerHub line of Ethernet access devices, expanding Fore's presence in the Ethernet market.
