Dell Computer trimmed prices on its Inspiron 3000 notebook line in conjunction with the introduction of a model based on Intel's new Pentium processor. An Inspiron with a 233-MHz Pentium MMX processor fell nine percent, to $3,099 from $3,399, while a 200-MHz version dropped seven percent, to $2,599 from $2,799. Dell's newest model is a 266-MHz Inspiron, retailing for $3,299. The company also introduced a 56-kbps modem for $229.
