Short Take: Computer Associates earnings up

Computer Associates International reported $1.05 billion in revenue for the third fiscal quarter ended December 31, 1996, a 5% increase over revenues reported for the same period last year. Net income, excluding the previously announced $598 million cost of acquiring Cheyenne Software, was $284.7 million, compared to $227.2 million for last year's third quarter. Net income for the third quarter was 75 cents per share, excluding the acquisition charge, compared to 60 cents a year ago.
