Short Take: Compaq cuts ProLiant server prices
Compaq Computer cut prices on Compaq ProLiant 2500 servers by up to 15 percent in the United States, selected server storage by up to 14 percent, and selected server memory by up to 30 percent. ProLiant's cost $5,111 to $7,756, down from $6,000 to $8,644. Prices were cut on the following ProLiant 5000 memory options: 128MB Memory Expansion Kit to $1,989; 256MB to $8,182; and the 512MB to $17,044. Compaq reduced storage prices on selected 2.1GB and all 4.3GB hard drives.
