Short Take: Bennett, Dodd appointed to Y2K litigation bill conference

Sens. Robert Bennett (R-Utah) and Chris Dodd (D-Connecticut), chairman and vice chairman of the Senate Special Committee on the Year 2000 Technology Problem, have been appointed to the House-Senate Conference on Y2K litigation legislation. Bennett and Dodd will be joined in conference by Sens. Conrad Burns (R-Montana), Slade Gorton (R-Washington), Orrin Hatch (R-Utah), Ernest Hollings (D-South Carolina), John Kerry (D-Massachusetts), Pat Leahy (D-Vermont), John McCain (R-Arizona), Ted Stevens (R-Alaska), Strom Thurmond (R-South Carolina), and Ron Wyden (D-Oregon). The legislation, the Y2K Act, was approved earlier this week and looks to limit lawsuits arising from the Year 200 bug.
