Short Take: Apple posts first-quarter expectations

Apple Computer expects to post an operating loss of between $100 million to $150 million for its first quarter ended December 27. The computer maker also expects first quarter revenues to come in 10 percent lower than the immediately previous quarter, when it posted $2.3 billion in revenues. Apple said weak Performa computer sales and a shortage of its PowerBook models contributed to the decline. Apple plans to announce its final first-quarter results on January 15.
