Short take: Apple, Be hold board meetings

Board members for met today at a regularly scheduled meeting. The board for operating system software maker Be will meet Thursday, also for a regularly scheduled board meeting. Sources say the back-to-back meetings are just a coincidence. Nevertheless, acquisition talks between the two are still continuing, albeit at a glacial pace, said one source. Theoretically, Apple and Be could wrap up a deal in time for Apple's scheduled announcement of a new and improved operating system at Macworld Expo in January. Sources say "theoretically" is the operative word here.
