Short Take: AMD settles lawsuit against Alliance

Advanced Micro Devices has settled its patent infringement suit against Alliance Semiconductor. In 1996, AMD filed a suit that alleged Alliance infringed two flash memory patents. Under the settlement, Alliance will pay AMD an undisclosed sum for damages and future royalties. The companies also have submitted to the court a consent judgment that finds the two AMD patents are valid and enforceable and that certain Alliance flash memory devices infringed AMD's patents.
