Short Take: Adaptec to cut 200 jobs

Peripherals circuitry maker Adaptec announced it expects to cut 200 people from its workforce. The company has been impacted by the Asian economic crisis and has reduced its workforce by about 25 percent to 2,550 since April. Adaptec's interim CEO Larry Boucher said the action was designed to return the company to increased profitability. Adaptec's new partners Jaycor Networks and Chaparral Technologies are expected to pick up some of those laid-off.
