Accompany said today that it is one step away from receiving a patent on its online group buying methods. The San Francisco-based company, which has created a network of group buying sites offering consumers lower prices on products if more people buy, received a "notice of allowance" from the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. The patent, when issued, will be Accompany's first.
