Short: IBM, Microsoft embrace data marts

IBM will today announce a new data warehouse program aimed at helping companies build workgroup-sized data marts, or small informational databases. The program is intended to combat Microsoft, which will today announce plans to establish the Alliance for Data Warehousing, a set of standards and a joint marketing program, with SAP, NCR, and other companies.
