Samsung announces five ultracompact cameras
With one exception, the cameras are as exciting as that headline.
I'd like nothing more than to tell you that Samsung announced some more innovative cameras this morning, but sadly I can't. What I can tell you is that there are now five more fairly unimpressive ultracompacts in the world stamped with the Samsung brand.
Four of the five (listed below) are standard point-and-shoots priced from $100 to $200. The one pictured above--the 16-megapixel ST6500--is the only one that stands out a bit from the bunch. Not because of features, though, but because the body design is a little different, aimed at improving shooting ergonomics.
It also has a 5x, 26mm-equivalent wide-angle lens and a 3-inch touch screen, but really that's it. Or at least that's all that Samsung thought was important enough to tell us about it.
Priced at $229 look for the ST6500 in March. The few details I have for the other models are below.
