Perot Systems, Novell team to provide Net services

Computer services provider Perot Systems will build virtual private networks for Novell customers, as well as providing other services.

Computer services provider Perot Systems said today it is teaming with Novell to deliver Internet and network services to joint customers.

Through this alliance, Perot Systems will build virtual private networks (VPNs) for customers using Novell technology under Novell's consultant and systems integrator (CSI) program. Novell supplies networking software used to manage data on business networks and the Internet.

Through the new service, Perot will move its customers from back-end private-leased lines onto the Internet using VPN technologies.

Perot will also help customers integrate Novell's NDS eDirectory with their enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems, supply chain software, customer relationship management (CRM) software and other business management systems, the company said.

"By partnering our technology capabilities?we can offer faster, less expensive solutions for our customers and help them take advantage of e-business opportunities on the Internet," Ross Perot, president of Perot Systems, said in a statement.

Earlier this month Perot Systems announced plans to sell its 40 percent stake in Swiss software developer Systor for about $55 million.
