PeopleSoft lures HP marketing exec

Software maker PeopleSoft tapped former Hewlett-Packard executive Nanci Caldwell as its new chief marketing officer. Caldwell, 43, joins PeopleSoft after serving as vice president of marketing for HP Services, the computing giant's consulting and services arm. A longtime employee of HP, Caldwell was responsible for overseeing the company's marketing strategy for consulting, operations, education, support and Internet services. At Pleasanton, Calif.-based PeopleSoft, she will focus on the company's growth in the business applications market. Last month, PeopleSoft shares enjoyed a needed boost after the company posted first-quarter results that beat Wall Street estimates. Revenue for the quarter was up 34 percent from a year ago to $503 million.
