PeopleSoft becomes more user friendly
PeopleSoft signed deals to make its custom intranet applications easier to use.
The company inked deals with Business@Web to provide electronic commerce software and with Spider Technologies to supply tools that let users build custom Web client interfaces to PeopleSoft's manufacturing, distribution, human resources, materials management, and accounting applications. PeopleSoft also signed up with several vendors to provide electronic data interchange connectivity for business-to-business applications.
With the move, PeopleSoft joins other client-server applications vendors, including SAP, Baan, and Oracle, in providing client access across the Web in addition to standard local area network interfaces.
Separately, the company announced that it will bundle Bea Systems' Tuxedo middleware with its suite of client-server applications to ease development of intranet and distributed applications. Tuxedo simplifies connections between multiple clients and backend database servers for high-volume transaction processing.
PeopleSoft will begin bundling Tuxedo with release 6.0 of its application suite, due later this year.
