Oracle pares InterOffice staff
Oracle cuts staff as it repositions its InterOffice messaging server software.
Oracle (ORCL) has cut 14 positions from its InterOffice development team in the past week.
Oracle said the cuts are designed to increase the integration of its product development efforts, since its InterOffice was folded into Oracle's application server division last November.
The company remains committed to the InterOffice product, however, it said in a statement.
Oracle's job cuts come as it retreats from the corporate groupware market and repositions InterOffice as an information management product for Internet service providers. That product was originally conceived as a direct competitor to Lotus Development's Notes and Microsoft's Exchange server.
