Oracle claims Net PC will ship in March

Oracle Corporation today announced that it is finishing the design on its first Internet PC and expects to ship the $500 systems in March.

Oracle Corporation today announced that it is finishing the design on its first Internet PC and expects to ship it in March, according to officials.

Oracle chair, Larry Ellison, has said that the device will cost approximately $500, but industry experts said that's not possible considering the monitor costs more than $200.

In response, Andrew Laursen, Oracle's vice president of network computing said the PC won't have a monitor and will cost $500. Instead it will have jacks and cables that connect to TV or PC monitors.

The small device costs less than $200 to manufacture and will soon be shown to the public, according to Laursen.
