Novell hires marketing chief

Continuing an executive makeover at the company, networking software provider Novell on Friday announced the appointment of Debra Bergevine as chief marketing officer, a newly created position at the company. Bergevine was formerly with Foliage Software Systems, a custom software development and integration company, and has a 20-year history in technology marketing and business, according to the company. She will be responsible for Novell's strategic direction and marketing initiatives. Bergevine will report to Chris Stone, the recently installed vice chairman, the office of the chief executive officer, and will be based in Cambridge, Mass.
