Nissan goes small-batch chic with the 2017 Juke Black Pearl
Only 1,000 of these cars will be sold in the US.
Nissan's latest special edition, the 2017 Juke Black Pearl, borrows its name from a version of the 1978 Datsun 280Z. That's where the connection between these two cars ends, but if you're looking for a Juke with some special appointments, this could be up your alley.
The Black Pearl, as its name suggests, takes on a very dark appearance. The paint is black, the wheels are black, and the interior is black. Cutting through the monotony are several white-painted appointments, including the door handles, mirror caps and bumper trim. The center console is white, too, as are the air vents and seat inserts.
That's it. That's all that's different. Everything else is the same as you'd get on the standard Juke. Its 1.6-liter I4 engine puts out 188 horsepower and 177 pound-feet of torque, which reaches the wheels through a continuously variable transmission. The Juke is rated at 28 mpg city and 32 mpg highway with front wheel drive. Opt for all-wheel drive, and those numbers drop to 26 and 30, respectively.
The Juke Black Pearl is a package that can be added to the Juke SV, so you get some decent standard equipment, too. There's a 5.0-inch color display, heated seats, a USB port, push-button ignition and a backup camera. iPhone users can use Siri Eyes Free, which puts Siri voice recognition no further away than a long push of a steering wheel button.
The Black Pearl is a limited edition model. Only 1,000 units will be sold in the US. The Black Pearl package adds $1,190 to the front-wheel-drive Juke SV's base price of $22,550. It can be added to the AWD model, as well, which starts at $24,400. The Juke Black Pearl will debut at the LA Auto Show in November.
