What is News.com Extra?
July 7, 2004

CNET News.com today is expanding "More news from around the Web," a feature that it pioneered eight years ago when it first began directing readers to technology stories from other Web sites.

With today's launch of News.com Extra, we are expanding and enhancing that concept. Our reporters and editors will again handpick the stories that you shouldn't miss, with the goal of expanding your knowledge, not simply collecting dozens of stories that say essentially the same thing.

For further convenience, we are adding automated headline feeds for international, national, sports, business and entertainment news to this page. News.com Extra will also include a column called "Missing links" that highlights offbeat stories from around the Web. Some items may be humorous, others insightful; we welcome submissions from readers for this feature--the only requirement is that they be provocative and unique.

For the many loyal readers of News.com, the front door to the site will not change in any way. News.com Extra, however, seeks to provide a secondary method of following current events that capitalizes on our strength as an originator of award-winning technology news, from scoops to special reports to interviews with industry luminaries.

We appreciate your feedback--please send comments to us here.
