Navigator Gold upgrade in beta testing

An upgrade of Netscape Communications' Navigator Gold high-end browser has entered beta testing.

An upgrade of Netscape Communications' Navigator Gold high-end browser and HTML authoring tool that will allow users to create documents with LiveObjects such as JavaScript, audio, or video has entered beta testing.

With version 3.0 of Navigator Gold, users can create and edit tables on a Web page, transfer pages to the Internet or a private intranet with one-button publishing, choose from a collection of Web page templates, and enlist the help of a step-by-step publishing wizard.

Along with its document creation features, Gold 3.0 includes security measures that permit network administrators to create user names and password authentication so that prevent end users can't edit or publish documents without authorization.

Navigator Gold 3.0 also incorporates the new features of Navigator 3.0, including interactive email, threaded discussion groups, corporate administration through the Netscape Administration Kit, enhanced Secure Sockets Layer 3.0 encryption, support for digital certificates, real-time collaboration capabilities and an open Java programming language implementation.

The 3.0 beta copy is available for free downloading from the company's We b site.
