Linux created for DSPs

Linux company RidgeRun said Thursday that it is making available an embedded version of the open-source operating system that runs on digital signal processors from Texas Instruments. TI plans to market the operating system, along with streaming media technology from Ingenient Technologies, for use in digital cameras, digital camcorders, Web-surfing pads and other gadgets. "Many of our customers have been asking for a Linux-based solution to ease their application development and share a common platform across a broad range of products," Raj Talluri, business manager of TI's imaging business unit, said in a statement.
